Screen Printing:
- Contemporary Textile Studio (Toronto: 401 Richmond St. W.):This is a great site for yardage printing and general textile printing. Very good facilities with industrial quality equipment. There are about 10 resident artists with various courses, please email or visit their web site for exact dates, costs and courses.
- Model Citizen (Toronto: 279 Augusta Ave.): A local fashion designer who can teach both t-shirt and yardage printing. 416-703-7625. Ask for Julian.
Shibori Dyeing
- The Shop (1139 College Street, Toronto, inside MakeWorks) Join us and learn the art of Shibori dyeing. This Japanese style of resistance fabric dyeing includes binding, stitching, folding, twisting and compressing the fabric before submerging it in indigo ink, resulting in beautiful, complex, one of a kind designs. During this three hour workshop, you will be shown the different techniques involved in fabric preparation, before having the chance to dye your own fabric. Link to Workshops
Our Workshops
Private Screen Printing Workshops - call for booking
This private workshop will take you through the process of printing t-shirts or piece goods for personal or business use. Students can cover any topic from prepping screens, computer aided film output, shooting screens and printing single plus multi-color work. A private workshop held at our Markham office, takes around 2 hours and is as thorough as our regular scheduled 5 hour group workshops. More detailed and advanced topics can be covered depending on your needs. Prices are $100/hour for one person or $125/hr for semi-private (2 people). Materials are included in the price.
