Buckthorn species are native to the Middle East, and Mediterranean. Also known as Persian berries since the warm yellow colour comes from the unripe berries. Cream of tartar can be used along with mordants for higher lightfastness.
Dyeing: Use powdered buckthorn on mordanted fibres at 15-20% WOF.
