Recall on Transparent Base

June 2010

We are sorry to report that some batches of our Transparent Base will go moldy prematurely. This recall involves product purchased from May 2009 to present.

This ONLY affects our G&S PIgments - Transparent Base and does not affect our Opaque Base nor our White Opaque Ink.

Handled with care, our Transparent Base has held up for the past 20 years to most studio or home environments with 6-12 months shelf life from date of purchase without issues, but the past few production batches have resulted in inconsistent results.

Mold on unused stock does affect performance of the Base so G&S DYE has been exchanging unused portions for equal amounts at no charge or for store credit for the past year. We feel that publically stating this issue today on our website is the only way to handle this unfortuneate situation positively so all users can feel confident with our products moving forward.

We have been given assuances by our existing suppliers that this was an isolated issue, but we already have put in place more expensive alternatives just in case the problem persists. We are loyal to our suppliers and will try to work with them to provide a quality product at good value first.
